Maharashtra Cyber Digital Crime Unit (MCDCU) has been awarded as the 2019 Global IP Champion for their efforts in protecting the rights of content owners online.
The Global IP Champion award recognizes a member of IP community who has advanced reforms to foster and protect innovation and creativity in their communities and around the world.
Accepting the award on behalf of the MCDCU, Brijesh Singh a Special Inspector General of Police Maharashtra Cyber, said,†We are honoured to work on behalf of Indian innovators and create to protect their work online. We are positioned for growth and committed to winning the fight against the digital piracy in India and around the worldâ€.

Launched in August 2017, the MUDUC has disrupted around 235 websites hosting pirated content, resulting in saving Rs 120 crore or approximately $17 million for content creaters.
The award was presented during a summit hosted by the U.S Chamber of Commerce’s Global Innovation Policy Center (GIPC) and US-India Business Council (USIBC) on ‘Creative India: Honouring the legacy , fostering the futureâ€.
