Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Medicos National Association (DAMNA) held the annual gathering “Yatharthâ€Â and a Continuing Medical Education Programme (CME) on 1st May, 2019 (International Labour Day and Maharashtra Day )at Hotel Pride, Opp. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport, Wardha Road.
Advisor, Public Health, Ministry of Health Family Welfare, Government of India, Dr. Sunil Khaparde, graced the event as the Chief Guest while Consulting Physician Cardiologist, Dr. Shankar B. Khobragade, and Neurologist, Dr. Sanajy Ramteke were Guests of Honours.
HOD Anaesthesia Dept. and President DAMNA, Dr. Naresh Tirpude, made opening welcome speech. The dignitaries paid tributes to Dr. Babaaheb Ambedkar, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule and Gautam Buddha by Garlanding and Prayers. Dr. Sunil Khaparde in his address urged students to be learning throughout their life and serve the society at large and reduce their pains.
Dr. Khaparde also brought out how Dr. Ambedkar’s teaching helped him in charting the health policies for entire India. More so for killer disease Tuberculosis, that affects the poor and economically weaker section of the society. The policy aims at eradication of TB in India by 2025.
He lauded Dr. Ambedkar’s contribution on Labour laws, minimum wages, restriction of working hours from 12 to 8 hours, timely revision of pay scale, dearness allowance, leave benefit medical leave, equal pay for equal work etc.
He further mentioned that Reserve Bank of India “RBI†was formed on his “Problem of Rupee Its origin and its solution. His campaign against social discrimination against Dalit, women and labour is well-known.
Later Dr. Shankar Khobragade, Guest of Honour and Guest speaker delivered talk on Co-enzyme Q10. “Patients who expected to die in 2 years with conventional therapy showed significant clinical improvement indicating CoQ10 therapy might extend lives of such patients. This improvement could be due to the correction of CoQ10 deficiency in myocardium and to enhanced synthesis CoQ10 requiring enzymes†added Dr. Khobragade.
Earlier he briefed the students about Dr. B. R. Ambedkar thoughts and on Buddhism and termed Buddha as a Physician and Psychiatrist. He stressed upon students to follow their teachings in life and serve humanity. Dr. Sanjay Ramteke, Neurologist briefed on “Epilepsyâ€, classification, differential diagnosis, causes, investigations, therapy and latest medical drugs and surgical options etc.
Dr. Naresh Tirpude, outgoing President and HOD Anaesthesia, GMC, demonstrated Basic Life support and said undergraduates will be taught Basic Life support and one should always learn Cardio Resuscitation technique and help in an emergency to save a life. 30 chest compress with 2 rescue breath. In case one is reluctant to do mouth to mouth breathing, only chest compression of 100/120 per minute should be applied.
Later the New body was declared HOD ENT GMC, Dr. Ashok Nitnaware, took over as Presidents and Dr. Barsagde as Secretary. Dr. Nitin Shende is treasurer.
Student Secretary Dhammadip Shahare and Dhanashree Ramteke .The get-together programme “Yatharth†was organized by Student Secretary Suraj Godghate, Samiksha Borkar with members of DAMNA batch 2017 and 2018. The students who excelled in the examinations were felicitated at the hands of chief guest and guest of honour.
Devyani Shende, Prayut Sukhdeve and Jeeni Gajbhiye conducted the Cultural session. Suraj Godghate proposed the vote of thanks.
