In yet another incident of newlywed woman committing suicide, a 24-year-old Subash Nagar based woman ended her life by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her house on Sunday under the jurisdiction of Pratapnagar police.
The deceased has been identified as Dipali Ashish Ambulkar, a resident of Plot. No. 53, Joshi Lay-out, Subash Nagar.
The incident came into light after Ashish Ambulkar (29) deceased’s husband saw his wife hanging with the ceiling fan. He alerted the cops who rushed to the spot, and sent the body for autopsy, police added.
According to police sources, it could not be ascertained as to what led Dipali to take the extreme step. Meanwhile, the cops have registered a case of accidental death and are investigating further.
Four bookies arrest as Kamptee police bust IPL betting racket
Nagpur: In a significant action against the gambling activities increasing during the IPL season, the team of Kamptee police on Sunday, raided a rented room of Modern Land Developers in Yashodhara Nagar and booked four persons engaged in betting on the IPL final played between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings.
The cops also seized 16 mobiles phones, a TV, laptop and other materials collectively worth Rs 3.05 lakh.
The accused were identified as Praveen Kattu Kale (36), Machindra Shriram Potbhare (27), Vijay Madhukar Mahajan (27) and Pramod Kadu (26) all residents of Lalganj under the jurisdiction of Shantinagar police station.
Kamptee police booked all four accused under sections of 167/19 of IPC and sections 4,5,12 of Maharashtra Gambling (Prevention) Act and are investigating further.
Sitabuldi police solve four cases of vehicle theft, burglary, two arrests
Sitabuldi police nabbed two accused engaged in vehicle lifting and robberies and solved four such incidents. Police have also recovered stolen goods comprising an I10 car, two-wheelers, gold ornaments etc collectively worth Rs 6.03 lakh from their possession.
The accused have been identified as Ajay alias Ajju Ramsingh Warkhade (23), a resident of Ramteke Nagar, Beltarodi and Roushan Suresh Pache (23), resident of Hingna under Sections 4, 25, 279 of the IPC in this connection.
“During patrolling, the sleuths of Sitabuldi police received a tip-off that a white I-10 car had knocked down another vehicle at Jaistambh Square and was trying to flee the spot. Subsequently, the cops chased the vehicle and detained driver Roushan besides seizing the car,†said PI Jagvendrasingh Rajput, while addressing the press conference on Monday.
During the interrogation, Roushan revealed to cops that the car he was driving was stolen by him from a locked house in Beltarodi with his accomplice Ajay. The cops then nabbed Ajay. During frisking, the police found a sharp weapon in his possession.
Besides, one offence under the jurisdiction of Beltarodi, the accused duo admitted to their involvement in three more cases of vehicle lifting and robberies under the jurisdiction of Sadar police station.
