-ZP Health chairman gives directive, payment will be done in next week Â
After much chaos and crisis created over the payment issues of doctors placed at rural areas, the Zilla Parishad health chairman and vice president Sharad Donekar ordered the authorities to make the payments by borrowing funds from National Rural Health Mission (NRHM)
In a meeting conducted on Tuesday with ZP officials, the matter was raised. It may be noted that the doctors at rural areas have been recruited by the ZP on contract basis.  But from last four months, they are not getting payments. It is worth mentioning here that despite getting the funds for payments, doctors did not get their salaries, which was 40 thousand. Because of this mismanagement and careless attitude of ZP, most of the doctors have resigned from their jobs and remaining doctors are planning to quit.
As per the information, government had released a fund of 13 lakh in the March end to for the payment of doctors. The authorities utilized the funds they had received from the government to pay the salary of doctors at West Vidarbha, whereas on the other hand, the fund could not be consumed as a result, it went back to the government. Hence, the doctors at Nagpur district did not get a single penny in these four month.
However, after the directives given by Sharad Donekar, the salaries are likely to be paid in next 7 days.
Also, in a shocking revelation, it has come to fore that the delayed payments are because of the ZP clerk. Actually, it has been alleged that the directives were not clearly mentioned in the guidelines given by government for the payment of salaries. This created confusion and salaries could not be paid for over four months.
