Home Health Aide Training to start from June 1, 2019 by HCG Foundation
HCG NCHRI Hospital celebrated International Nursing Day on May 15 concurrently at all the 26 Centres across India recently. (The Birth day of Florence Nightingale, founder of modern nursing, is observed as World Nurse Day by International Council of Nurses to mark the contributions that nurses make to the society since 1965). She was OM, PRC, and DStJ an English social reformer and statistician the theme this year was: Nurses, A Voice to lead, and Health for all.
At the outset, Dr. Ajay Mehta, Managing Director made opening speech. He recalled the Historical event of how nursing as a profession was accepted by the devoted, kind hearted and dedicated service with empathy to the wounded soldiers in the Crimean war by Florence Nightingale, then known as “A lady with lamp†He praised the role of Nursing profession which is the pillar of Health Care Delivery from primary to tertiary care setups to all age group of patients from new born to terminally sick aged people. He urged them to keep up to date with technological advances and law while discharging their duties.
Sister Philomena, President of St. Joseph Hospital, Fetri, Kalmeshwar Road, Dist. Nagpur, was the Chief Guest on the Occasion while her colleagues Sr. Jotsna Mathew and Sr. Preeti were Guest of Honour. The pledge was administered to all the nursing staff male and female on the occasion to refresh the important role they are supposed to play discharging their duties and ethical behavior.
Sister Philomena in her speech highlighted the vital role played by Nurses and termed as an access point to 24/7, Birth to Death, emergency and ongoing care. She urged the nursing staff to do the job with love and without distractions and learn skills.
One month duration Home Health Aide Training programme was announced on the occasion by Dr. Suchitra Mehta, Psycho-oncology Head in association with HCG Foundation.  It will be conducted by HCG NCHRI Cancer Centre, from June 1, 2019 for assistant nurse who will provide necessary and personal care to patients and terminally ill at their homes. The training will provide basic personal care and providing a safe environment, meeting the needs of the patients.
Directors from various nursing institutes of the region were present for programme. Â There were various cultural events organized on account of nursing day, the winners were felicitated on the event.
