In a welcome news for Nagpurians willing to enjoy vacations in Goa, the Central Railway has decided to take measures to resume the Nagpur-Madgaon (Goa) express train. The train had received huge response from the Nagpurians. However, despite its good run, the train was terminated with the end of festive season.
The Nagpur division would send a proposal to run the train weekly. It may be mentioned here that the train was started in winter 2017 as holiday special in four ferries. The 16-coach train got good response from the passengers. It remained packed during the whole season.
Central Railway general manager BK Sharma has asked the divisional railway manager to send a proposal in this regard to headquarters. He also assured to restart Ajni-Kazipeth passenger train, which was cancelled even after good response.
It is pertinent to note here that there is huge demand for a direct train between Nagpur and Goa. At present, people interested in travelling to Goa had to reach Mumbai first and then take another train or bus route to reach Goa. This not only cause inconvenience but consumes unnecessary time. Hence, people have been demanding a direct train to Goa from Ajni or Nagpur.
On Nagpur-Wardha third line, he said Maharashtra government was giving full cooperation in land acquisition. He further added that MEMU train on broad gauge line would be run after coaches are provided by Mahametro.
Sharma admitted that passenger train should be changed into MEMU. For this MEMU shed is needed. CR will send a proposal to Railway Board for MEMU shed.
