Already reeling under blistering heat, people in Nagpur and others parts of Vidarbha region may have to face even more extreme heat in the coming days.
As per the information provided by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), mercury is set to rise after May 19. Summer heat may further intensify in Vidarbha, Marathwada and Khandesh after May 25, with maximum temperature likely to remain around 46 degree Celsius in Akola, Nagpur and Wardha districts. Situation would be worse in Chandrapur, where mercury may go over 47 degree Celsius.
Heat wave conditions were prevailing in many parts of Vidarbha with maximum temperature still around 44 degree Celsius in most of the districts. In Nagpur, Wardha and Chandrapur mercury has crossed 45 degree Celsius mark.
According to meteorologists at Skymet, in the absence of any weather activity for next one week or so, no relief is foreseen from the ongoing hot and uneasy weather conditions.
By first week of June pre-Monsoon activities would pick up pace just prior to the commencement of Southwest Monsoon rains.
