A grand rally has been organised by the Vidarbha Rajya Andolan Samiti (VRAS) on June 3 for various pending demands including reduction in electricity rate.
The agitation will start from Samvidha Square and will end at the residence of Maharashtra Energy Minister, Chandrashekhar Bawankule in Koradi.
According to a press release, around 6300 MW electricity is generated in Vidarbha power generation projects out of which 2200 MW is supplied to Mumbai and Pune.
The release further added that the production cost is just Rs 2.50 per unit but the common man has to pay Rs 6 for the same unit.
Other demands by the VRAS include pollution free Vidarbha, cancelation of 132 power plant projects and to reduce the electricity rates to half. The Samiti suggests that solution for all these issues is a Separate Vidarbha.
