Association of Physician of India, Vidarbha Chapter (API VC) had organized an International “Heart Failure Conclave†on May 19 , at Hotel Centre Point, Ramdaspeth, and Nagpur.
The Guest speaker was our own city lad Dr. Gaurang Prabhakar Deshpande, M.Sc. Ph. D. (Cardio Vascular Research), who is presently working in South Africa. He presented his own data on research in Cardio Vascular Disease in HIV Positive patients in South Africa†This was presided over by Chairpersons Dr. N. P. Tolani and Dr. Ajay Kaduskar. It aroused lots of interactions from the audience.
At the outset Dr. Shankar Khobragade, President API VC made opening welcome speech. He highlighted the importance of updating on Heart Failure which is a major killer disease of the mankind and various solutions in different scenario and co -morbid conditions.
Before CME a session on case based presentation was conducted. Dr. Rajashree Khapkar (NKPSIMS) presented a case of Congestive Cardiac Failure. Dr. Pawan Khatri, (GMC Nagpur) presented an unusual case of Hyperthyroidism. Dr. Shubh Purohit, (GMC) presented Rheumatic Carditis. Dr. S. D. Suryawanshi presented an interesting clinical case. Dr. Prabhakar Deshpande, Dr Anand Kate, and Dr. Sharad Deshmukh chaired the session as Chairpersons.
Dr. Nikhil Balankhe, MD Medicine, spoke on: “Heart Failure and Diabetes†which was chaired by Dr.Praful Kadu and Dr. Dipti Chand whereas DM Cardiology, Dr.Kashif Syed, highlighted “Primary and recent Management of Heart Failure and common mythsâ€. Dr. Sanjay Jain and Dr. Suhas Kanfade chaired his talk. Dr. Jay Deshmukh MD Med. FCPS, NMAS spoke on Clinical Pearls in ARNI group of drugs. Dr. Mukesh Mishra and Dr. Rajashree Khot were the chairpersons.
Dr. Mukund Ganeriwal, Jt. Secretary, proposed the vote of thanks.  This was followed by a Public forum in the post lunch session of API in collaboration with Bahujan Hitay Sangh, Vandana Sangh, Deeksha Bhumi and Maharashtra Officers forum. Dr. Shankar Khobragade spoke on prevention of Heart Attack by adopting healthy lifestyle, cessation of tobacco in any form, exclusion of alcohol, fatty food, junk food and consuming fresh fruits and vegetables in large quantity, He underlined the role regular physical activity, exercises, stress management,
balanced diet, weight as per BMI and keeping medical conditions like diabetes and hypertension under check with adherence to therapies prescribed by doctors and regular follow up.
Lastly Dr. Sunil Khobragde, Editor “Jantecha Mahanayakâ€, Mumbai, had a dialogue with members on options for strengthening “Ambedkar movement momentum†Capt. Shridhar Meshram, President Ambedkar Mission was the Chief Guest and Sub Editor Janatecha Mahanayak, Milind Fulzele was Guest of Honour. Vasudeorao Thul Devidas Ghodeswar was prominently present on the occasion. Adv. Hansraj Bhange proposed the vote of thanks. The event was attended by members of all the three societies in large numbers.
