Since the beginning, trees have furnished us with two of life’s essentials, food and oxygen. As we evolved, they provided additional necessities such as shelter, medicine, and tools. Today, their value continues to increase and more benefits of trees are being discovered as their role expands to satisfy the needs created by our modern lifestyles.Trees contribute to their environment by providing oxygen, improving air quality, climate amelioration, conserving water, preserving soil, and supporting wildlife. During the process of photosynthesis, trees take in carbon dioxide and produce the oxygen we breathe.
There is a beautiful urban jungle inside Nagpur city called Bharatvan which does all this and much more. Sadly this urban jungle is soon going to fall prey to unscientific development plans. 500 trees are scheduled to be cut down to build an #unnecessaryroad. Apna Van, Bharat Van volunteers are doing various events around #savebharatvan theme to create public awareness regarding this.
A positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events and outcomes. It is a catalyst and it sparks extraordinary results. The main objective behind this motorcycle ride is to create awareness among the bikers& traveller community in India to protect Bharat Van in Nagpur and other Urban Jungles elsewhere in India from disappearing to build unnecessary roads; and handing over the best planet to the future generation. Why did the citizen of Nagpur create a human chain in Futala on 1 May, 2019?
The human chain on 1 May 2019 was an amalgamation of minds and hearts that were synchronized as one to show the strength of a purpose they were all committed to.
A union of hands by the citizens of Nagpur, was the strong barricade against the ill conceived thoughts of the planners. It was a show of strength of opposition to unsustainable development.
It is time for urban planners to pause and introspect. Not just because of the strength of the thinking and visionary public of Nagpur, but in the wider interest of leaving behind a legacy of natural resources to the future generations of a gifted green cover city.
Ace bikers of Nagpur Jatin Jain, Abhijit Pachkhede from Nagpur Riders Club ; and Akash Salve and other riders from Orange City Riderz; apart from many other motorcycle clubs in India along with volunteers of Half Day Wildlifers and Mood of the Group will provide support to Harshal& Lalit in this noble attempt. The riders will be flagged off from Bharatvan, near Mother Dairy booth, Bharatnagar at 3 pm on 30 May 2019.
