Rail traffic on Mumbai-Howrah route was affected after pantograph of a freight train got damaged between Tarsa and Revral railway stations on Tuesday evening around 4 pm. The goods train was going towards Bilaspur junction.
Due to breakdown Vidarbha express got stuck at Revral station for nearly one hour. Howrah- Pune Azad Hind express, Mumbai – Howrah Geetanjali express, Ahmedabad- Howrah express, Trivandrum – Korba express and Mumbai – Gondia Maharashtra express too were affected.
These trains run 3-4 hours late from their scheduled time. Movement of a few Memu locals was also affected. Shockingly senior officials of the division did not get the information about the incident till 8 pm.
The rail traffic was resumed around 7 pm after maintenance. Meanwhile, signal failure at Kalamna railway station also affected movement of many trains on the route. However, this snag was repaired by the railway officials quickly.
Passengers of summer special face inconvenience
Railways is running a special train between Nagpur and Mumbai considering heavy rush of passengers on the route. However, several passengers of the summer special train no 01076 were left stranded on Tuesday. They were going to Akola from Nagpur. Sources said, tracks were not available for the train as a result it could not depart from Nagpur railway station on its scheduled time of 4 pm. It finally departed at 9 pm. Passengers were not informed about this fault as a result many passengers had to wait at Nagpur railway station for nearly five hours.
