The second day of Baidyanath District Badminton championship witnessed a major upset, when Ridheema Sarpate surprised  third seed Siya Kongre  at the Subhedar Hall here on Friday.
Unseeded hogged the limelight when she quelled the challenge of better rated opponent Siya 15-11, 6-15, 15-12 in the U-13 girls singles to enter the pre-quarterfinals. However other seeded players entered the next round without any hiccups. Top seed Krisha Soni overpowered Mugdha Sawarkar 15-4, 15-4 to seal her spot in the last 16.
Second seed Nishika Gokhe defeated Anvee Wajgi 15-4, 15-3 in a one-sided affair while fourth seed Vidushi Tayal got the better of Saumya Dudulkar 15-4, 15-3. In the U-10 boys singles, top seed Sairaj Nayse, second seed Sparsh Nandanwar, Manit Chandak and Soham Chaudhary booked their respective places in the quarterfinals.Top seed Fizza Akbani, second seed Anvee Wajgi, Dharaa Bhandari, Aarya Bhujade, Poorva Mohite, Grishma Kaishalwar, Swasti Thakre and Avani Zadgaonkar entered U-10 girls singles quarters.
