A shocking incident was reported in Nagpur where a 34-year-old man ended his life by jumping onto a burning pyre, at a crematorium, under the jurisdiction of MIDC police station, on Sunday.
Deceased has been identified as Mahesh Matorirao Kotangde, resident of Ramabai Ambedkar Nagar. As per the report, he jumped onto the pyre of a dead woman at a nearby crematorium in Ramabai Ambedkar Nagar.
Kotangde lived near the crematorium and sources claimed that he had been facing mental issues since past few time. He could not even work due to his illness.
Police said, that last rites of a woman named Parvata Bankar Vanamak, resident of MIDC area, were performed at the crematorium where Kotange jumped.
The dead woman’s relatives and friends had left when Kotangde jumped into the fire, but some children who were playing nearby saw him and raised alarm.
Till the time, Kotange’s relative reached the spot, he was totally burned. Kotange’s brother, and neighbours tried to douse the flames but nothing worked. With the help of a long stick, they managed to pull Kotange out of the pyre. But, Kotange succumbed to his extreme injuries, on spot. However, MIDC police reached the spot and further probing the matter.
