Google through its doodle slideshow celebrated the 50 years of Pride celebration of the LGBTQ moment of the Pride History. The doodle slideshow offers a brief look into the Pride Parades from each of the five decades starting from 1969 to 2019.
It all started fifty years ago this month when New York police launched an early morning raid on a small Greenwich Village bar popular with members of the gay community, sparking the Stonewall riots and ushering in the modern battle for LGBT rights in the US since then the LGBTQ community has came forward and fought for the justice.
In year 2018 Supreme Court passed a judgment, by discarding section 377 of the Indian Penal code, effectively decriminalizing same-sex relations. This verdict helped the people to come forward.
Anand Chandrani gay rights activist and founder of Sarthi trust said, “It’s that time of year that international LGBTQ pride month comes around. We have seen a marvelous, liberal change, among many countries for the better but we must not forget our brothers and sisters in other states, which still instill fear, hatred & are lawless towards them.
It’s a time for celebration & a time for reckoning. We need to rid the world of all inequality & mainstream all genres of sexuality once and for all. Till such time, we must stand tall in adversity and wished all Happy International Pride!
