In a welcome news for cricket lovers in the city, they would be able to watch a T20 International cricket match after nearly two years in Nagpur. The Orange City is set to host a T20 international match in November this year. As per the annual domestic schedule announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the third and final T20I cricket match between India and Bangladesh would be played at Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) Stadium Jamtha on November 10.
The BCCI has announced the schedule of the entire home season which will comprise five Tests, nine ODIs and 12 T20s on Monday. Bangladesh would play 3T20 international and two Tests. The T20I series would begin at New Delhi on November 3 and conclude at Nagpur on November 10.
After this match, both the teams would head for Indore, where Bangladesh would take on India in Tests. Bangladesh had toured India for the first time in 2017 when they played a one-off Test in Hyderabad. They will also be one of the six sides India will play in the nine-team World Test Championship. The ICC has already made it clear that India and Pakistan will not be facing each other in the first cycle, unless they both make the final.
Nagpur had last hosted a T20 internationals match way back in January 2019 during the bilateral series between India and England. India had registered a thrilling five-run win in that match.
Nagpur had also hosted World T20 Championship matches in 2016.
The first T20 international was played in Nagpur in 2009 between India and Sril Lanka. Since then, Nagpur has hosted 11 T20Is. India did not have a good track record here. They have played three matches here of which they lost the first two against Sri Lanka on December 9, 2009 and New Zealand (in the World T20 Championship) on March 15, 2016.
