The “Brass Band Competition” jointly organized by South Central Zone Central Center, Nagpur and Hanuman Seva Mandal on Monday at the Ramgarh Hanuman Mandir Complex, Somalwada, was a great success.
The program was inaugurated by Laxman Deshpande, President of Hanuman Seva Mandal, Director SCZCC, Dr. Deepak Khirwadkar, Deputy Director, Mohan Parakhari and Principal of Samskar Bharti, Chandrakant Bhorote.
On this occasion, Program Officer, Deepak Kulkarni, Premwarup Tiwari, Gopal Betwar, Shashank Dande, Deepak Patil and Srikant Desai lit the lamp.
Different brass band players from the city participated in the competition. Two compositions were played by each band, one on patriotism and their choice. The feature of this brass band competition was that no electronic instrument was used in it.
A Brass band is a combination of various brass instruments. The ensemble includes brass a woodwind instruments. The main motive behind the contest was to encourage the musicians and honour the artists working hard in this field.
The first prize with cash Rs 41,000 was bagged by Mangaldeep Band Party, second prize of Rs 31000 was awarded to Sant Gulab Baba Band.
The 3rd prize of Rs 11,000 was shared by Prashant Band and Shyam Band. Consolation prize of Rs. 5001 was given to Mahajan Band.
A large number of crowds present during the program cheered the participants and appreciated their performances.
