Lakadganj police on Monday booked two auto drivers for robbing a passenger and also threatened to kill him.
Cops have arrested two accused in this connection and launched the manhunt of their accomplices.
According to police sources, Kamlesh Kumar Govind Pal (21), a native of Chhattisgarh was in city for some work. At around 8 pm on Monday, the 21-year-old complainant boarded an auto for going to Itwari Railway Station.
In the midway, the auto driver took a pause and asked him to sit in another auto. Later, both the auto drivers took Kamalesh to Reshimbagh ground and started thrashing him. They also threatened to kill Kamalesh. With the threat, the two auto drivers and their once accomplice looted Rs 7500 from Kamlesh and fled the spot.
Servants booked for stealing under Pratap Nagar police
Pratap Nagar police have rounded up a maid servant and a woman renter who burgled gold ornaments worth Rs 2.43 from house of an elderly woman in Trimurti Nagar between May 19 and June 3.
According to police sources, Jeeta Vithobaji Kadhane (65), a resident of Trimurti Nagar had kept her gold ornaments worth Rs 2.43 in a steel almirah at her house on May 19. On June 3, she took her dog to a hospital asking her maid servant to keep watch.
However, when Jeeta returned home after sometime, she found the gold booty missing from the steel almirah. She suspected her maidservant and the woman tenant stole the gold ornaments.
Following her compliant, cops have registered a case under section 380 of IPC and started the probe.
Father-son duo molests woman, thrash her husband in Lakadganj
Lakadganj police have booked a father-son duo for allegedly molesting a 35-year-old woman and thrashing her spouse on Monday night.
Cops have booked accused Mukesh Thavardas Lalwani (44) and his son Yash (20) in this connection.
According to police sources, the accused Mukesh allegedly molested the 35-year-old survivor when she was filling the water inside a water cooler on Monday night. However, when her husband intervened into the matter the accused Mukesh accompanied by his son Yash, reportedly thrashed the survivor’s husband.
Cops arrest youth in Sadar, seize MD drug
Sadar police arrested a youth and seized 3.30 grams of Mephedrone (MD) drug from the utility box of his Vespa scooter.
The accused has been identified as Mohammad Shahnawaz alias Shanu Mohammad Arif (23), a resident of Plot No 1129, Hasanbag.
According to police sources, on Sunday evening, cops nabbed Mohammad Shahnawaz on suspicion near Bishop Cotton School Ground. During his vehicle search, police found 3.30 grams of MD valued at Rs 9, 900. Police seized the MD drug, a cell phone worth Rs 1000, Rs 2,500 and his scooter worth Rs 80,000.
Youth commits suicide under Hingna police
A young peasant committed suicide by hanging from a tree at his farm near Dongargaon in Hingna area on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Ganesh Vinod Ashtankar (23), a resident of Waghdhara.
According to police sources, Ganesh took the extreme step by hanging from the tree situated in the land which he and his father had allegedly taken on share-cropping basis from an agriculturist. However, the reason behind Ganesh’s suicide could not be ascertained so far. After recording the statement of Vinod Ankush Ashtankar (52), father of the deceased, Hingna Police started the probe after registering a case under Section 174 of Code of Criminal Procedure.
