A pregnant woman Sukeshni Shrikant Chatare had to conduct her own delivery due to the insensitive and negligent attitude of Medical’s gynecology and maternity department. After this shameful incident a four member high level committee has been constituted.
As this committee was to come for inquiry, all wards were cleaned on Tuesday. Significantly, women, who were made to sleep on the floor for treatment, were given cots. If the cots were available, why were the patients made to sleep on the floor, is the question being raised by all.

On Bawankule’s demand, Mahajan directed the concerned authorities to set up a four member high level committee to conduct inquiry in this matter. The committee is headed by medical education ministry joint secretary, Shivaji Patankar and other members are Miraj government Medical College Dean, Dr Pallavi Saple, JJ Hospital professor and department head, Dr Ashok Anand and medical education ministry additional secretary, Dr Shreenivas Kotwal.
As it was felt that the committee would be visiting, the wards were cleaned thoroughly right from windows to lavatories. Sources said that, female patients, who were made to sleep on the ground for treatment, were given cots.
Special planning was also conducted so that no one would complain. However the surprised patients asked, where were such a large number of cots brought from?
Meanwhile on Tuesday, various social organisations and women activists met Sukeshni Chatare and asked her to elaborate on her plight, and also gave her assurances.
