After the trial run between Lokmanya Nagar and Subhash Nagar Metro Station, Maha Metro Nagpur has reached another important milestone as it successfully traveled from Sitabuldi to Zero Mile station.
On Tuesday evening, the metro conducted its trial run on cross over from Sitabuldi to the Zero Mile Station. Maha Metro Managing Director, Dr. Brijesh Dixit and other officials of Maha Metro participated in this trial journey.
People were pleased to see the metro running above the Gawai flyover. Sitabuldi being the busiest streets of Nagpur, it was a relief for the Nagpurians to witness the scenario.
As the trial took place in evening hours, the bright lights of the metro train grabbed the attention of the pedestrians and localities.
The Nagpur Metro network, work on which started in June, 2015, consists of two corridors with a total length of 38 kilometres. The two corridors will have 38 stations, two depots and a fleet of 69 metro cars, including a special “nari shakti” women’s coach in each train.
Nagpur Metro is claimed to be the greenest metro in the country with 65 per cent of its electricity consumption from solar energy.
Dixit, said the Nagpur Metro will have the distinction of being the fastest completed Metro project in the country, the deadline for which is December 2019.
