The public interest cell of the Nationalist Congress Party had alleged that vehicles in the district are ferrying overloaded and the Regional Transport Office (RTO) isn’t taking action against the defaulters. The party handed over a memorandum to the transport officer, Atul Aade, which demands stern action against the ones breaking the law.
The memorandum also states that the orders given to penalize the vehicles ferrying overload were followed for only a while. The vehicles at coal depots, factories in Butibori, sand, cement, steel, etc are regularly breaking the rules due to which the quality of the roads is being affected and is also contributing in the rise of accidents in the city.
The deputy chief of NCP Nagpur, Shrikant Shivankar said that the vehicles allowed to carry 16 tons are ferrying over 42 tons in the vehicles. A warning of protest was also given, if action isn’t taken soon. Eknath Faalke, Rajesh Shukla, Mehboob Pathan, Bablu Kori, Papa Samudre, Jitendra Gondane, Khushal Dodke, Ajju Khan and Deepak Gedam were present at the occasion.
