After a deluge of objection letters were submitted by the angry citizen of Nagpur against the NMC public notice of destruction of Bharat Van trees, residents of Bharat Nagar and Mood of The Group organised Bharat Van Open Mic 3.0 on Sunday morning under the cool canopy of Chiku trees in Bharatvan.
A curated event conceptualised by Dr Abheek Ghosh, the event saw the oraters of Nagpur coming out in full force in support of the Bharatvan trees. The show began with standup comedian Manoj Jain present a satire of the life of a Mango tree. Mihir composed and sang a song which was the voice of mother nature.
Vaibhav and Tejas explained about the need of a strong push by Nagpur citizen to save Bharat Van. Dr Rupali sang a beautiful plea of the right to live by a Bharatvan tree “Na kato mujhe bada dukhta hai”. Baljeet kaur of Nagpur book readers club spoke about the importance of trees in the society.
Simran Thakre dissected the Bharatvan case and hinted at a builder-politician nexus causing the present public outcry surrounding Bharatvan. Mohit Gurbani & Aniesh Rana sang powerful self-composed Rap songs and warned the administration and sent a bugle call toNagpur youth to stand up against the Bharatvan road.
The event was followed by a demonstration of the joys of tree climbing by expert tree climbers Joy Mukherjee. Shuchi, Anurag, Devendra Jagtap, Devesh Ganguly , Nishant Paitod worked with the Bharat nagar residents for the smooth functioning of the event.
