The delay in monsoon has added to people’s woes who are already reeling under water scarcity. The problem has now worsened in Central Nagpur as citizens take to streets.
Central Nagpur staged demonstrations against the drinking water crisis and supply of adulterated water in many areas in central Nagpur. The agitators led by Adv Nanda Parate met NMC Assistant Commissioner, Prakash Warhade on this issue.
The residents of central Nagpur are facing crisis of drinking water. Muddy water is being supplied through the taps and residents of Mominpura, Timki, Bhankheda, Golibar Square, Budhwari, Naik Talao, Tandapeth, Lalganj, Maskasath, Juni Mangalwari, Gandhibagh and Itwari, have left no option than to drink the adulterated muddy water due to which many residents are suffering with chronic diseases after drinking the tap water.
Adv. Nanda Parate demanded Warhade to conduct laboratory tests of tap water. The residents have decided not to pay water bills if they will not get pure and potable water.
Balkrishna Wattighare, Ankush Parsheonikar, LokeshWattighare, Trimbak Sadavarti, Geeta Jalgaonkar, Anita Hedau, Manju Parate, Shakuntala Wattighare, Kalpana Adyalkar, Manda Shende, Nirmala Mohadikar, Pushpa Shete, Damyanti Padhye, Asha Chandekar, Geeta hedau, Kamal Parate, Shewanti Parsheonikar and many others participated in the agitation.
