Scania a major Swedish manufacturer of commercial vehicles which was supposed to provide more than 55 green buses to Nagpur has now withdrawn the scheme and gave all the buses to Bengaluru.
Transport Manager of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), Shivaji Jagtap said, Scania did not provide any prior notice to NMC about the withdrawal of the scheme of green buses and shifted to Bengaluru. Jagtap further said that, even the deal of providing 55 buses to the city was not fulfilled and only 25 buses were seen running in the city.
The green buses were eco friendly air conditioned buses, which had a high fanfare and ran on ethanol. Previously only one bus was provided to the city which covered the airport route.
Jagtab said that NMC will take stern action against the company Scania for violating the terms and service level agreement. Not only this but there are few more matters unresolved such as pending bills, land allotment, service level agreement and many more, added Jagtap.
Jagtap also said that NMC is still working to resolve the matter and will bring back the buses for the citizens.
