In a surprise drive to nab passengers travelling without ticket in trains, South East Central Railway carried an extensive checking and recovered fine of Rs 27 lakh 11 thousand 745Â and around 9840 cases were registered.
The drive was led by Shobhana Bandopadhyay, Divisional Railway Manager and under the guidance of Railway Manager, K V Raman.
The drive was conducted between June 1 and June 18 with the support of Commerce Department Officials, Senior Board of Commerce, ticket inspectors and railway security personnel.
The checking was conducted in total 358 passenger trains at all major railway stations that fall under SECR zone. Around 1122 cases were registered for traveling without tickets while others for carrying luggage without booking.
Apart from this, 154 cases were registered against people for littering on station and its premises and Rs. 16300 was recovered for the same.
Taking the matter seriously, Shobhana Bandopadhyay, appealed to all passengers and visitors to travel with appropriate train tickets and platform tickets. She also asked travelers on stations to keep the premises and coaches clean.
