International Yoga Day was celebrated worldwide with a promise to make a healthy lifestyle. People of Orange City geared up to celebrate the day with enthusiasm at the best possible way. Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University (MAFSU) celebrated the day to promote healthy living, on June 21.
International Yoga day was celebrated at Raman Science Centre Nagpur following Science Lecture on’ Benefits of Ayurved and Yoga’ was delivered by Yogacharya Dr. Amit Naphade, Central Govt. Health Services Nagpur. In his lecture Dr. Naphade elaborated on Ashtanga Yoga starting from Yama and Niyama and ending in Samadhi. He used daily life examples to make the lecture lively.
Information about different types of Aasana and its benefits for the human body, was also explained. A yoga workshop was conducted after the lecture. The participants were given first hand training about how to perform different simple yogic asanas and Pranayama in daily life. About 35 persons including Officers, staff members, trainees and Apprentices participated in the Popular Lecture and Yoga Workshop.
Participants at the ongoing Bharatnatyam workshop conducted by Pooja Hirwade at Natraj Art and Culture Center celebrated Yoga day with high spirits. Nationally acclaimed Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi dancer, Pooja Hirwade says, “Yoga involves a lot of breathing exercises and stretching exercises which integrates mind, body and soul and improves balancing and flexibility, balance, stamina and spirituality – the 4 basic requirements for a dancer. I believe that Yoga helps a performing artist to maintain her fitness level.”
Dr. Sanyukta Thorat, a professor at Department of Fine arts, RTM Nagpur University and a participant of ongoing “Yoga means journey towards beautiful inner life. It is the ultimate power of life. I am learning Bharatnatyam for the first time in my life and I feel that any dance form is a balance between inner self and body”.
Sakshi Gaidhane, “I think yoga is not just some practice or a must routine it’s a soul to soul connection which helps a dancer to maintain body language, posture throughout the dance routine.”
