After considering water scarcity problems in Nagpur city, NMC took its very first step towards storing the rain water at Gorewada lake. The digging work that started 3 days back, seems to be successfully as water they found water after two days of digging.
On Sunday, NMC Standing Committee Chairman Pradeep Pohane after considering the water issues in the city, visited the Gorewada Lake to inspect the digging work.
Pohane was accompanied by NIT trustee Bhushan Shingne, corporator Harish G, assistant commissioner Prakash Varade, NMC Contractors’ Association President Vijay Naidu, Manoj Agrawal, Musabhai, Kamar Siddhique, Sujat Siddique, Bhotmange and others were present.
The Gorewada lake did not dried in last 100 years, however this year due to continue supply of water to the city the water level reduced. The current state of lake can be considered as threat for people of Nagpur city.
Therefore, digging of the lake is a step taken to fight scarcity problem. Municipal officials along with its team are making efforts to obtain safe drinking water. Now as the water emerged after two days of digging, NMC is hopeful of getting more water.
Pohane further informed that, NMC had completed its administrative process and is waiting for more poclain machines to complete the work as soon as possible.
