Freemasons group of Nagpur celebrated Universal Brotherhood day on June 24 at VTI Hall, Agriculture College.
The world celebrates this day every year to prove that the concept of brotherhood transcends all barriers of language, religion, constitution, state or country which aims to spread the message of peace, tranquility and harmony among everyone.
Rajeev Ramkrishna Khandelwal, OSM, Grand Master of Grand Lodge of Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons of India (GLI) said that Freemasonry teaches that every man has a duty not only to himself but also to others. We strongly believe that this whole universe is an architectural marvel. The Almighty God is the architect of this universe and we are masons sent by him to make this earth as beautiful as he has designed. We, therefore, must do whatever we can to make the world a better place live in.
Whether that means cleaning up the environment, working on civic projects, conserving water and other natural resources, or helping children to work or read or see — the world should be a better place because we have passed through it otherwise, we will lose the purpose of our existence.
Khandelwal said the conglomeration of Freemasons from different lodges of Nagpur across their respective constitutions reminds about the VII World Conference of Masonic Grand Lodges held at Santiago, Chile in June 2004 where it was decided to celebrate June 24 as the Universal Brotherhood day. The day is observed to commemorate the formation of Grand Lodge of England, when Freemasonry in its present form took shape 302 years ago on this very date in 1717.
Swadesh Bhargav, Deputy Grand Master, GLI, Govindlal Shahu,OSM, Dr. Yagnesh Thakar, Deputy Regional Grand Master of Western India and Chairman of organising committee, K. K. Medhora, Kshitij Dharmadhikari, Tarun Mehra, Assistant Regional Grand Masters of Western India, Anjan Biswas, Organising Secretary, W.Bro. Vinayak Kewadkar, Organizing Treasurer and Rohit Jain were prominently present on the occasion.
