The Maharashtra forests were once known for their sightings of tigers both male and female. Once the jungles of Maharashtra had a heavy impact on tourism because of the population of tigers, but along the tourists eve the poachers had their eyes fit on the existing cats.
Jai a male tiger is known for its alpha attitude ever once called the biggest tiger in India ruled his area spread of Karhandla, Umred which is also the last spot where he was seen on April 18, 2016. The alpha was located through his radio collar signals on this day after which, few poachers were detained from the nearby areas in the month of August exactly after four months of his last sighting. And even today in 2019 the reason behind the disappearance of the feline is not clear, by the Maharashtra forest officials and not by even the wildlife lovers. The visitors don’t even know whether Jai is dead or is hiding in some new area. But the inactivity in the nearby villages might be a clue that he is not just missing but instead already dead.
This is not at all the only tiger getting vanished leaving behind no clues. Instead by a recent study on deaths of tigers, by Maharashtra government, more than 30 tigers are dead in just 22 months. This whole survey is dated from January 2017 to October 2018. Most of the causes were natural, while five to six of them were a reason for electrocution and road accidents but there are still four bodies left of which the reason cannot be specified.
The poisoning of big cats has also become a common issue. These cruel acts are mostly carried out by the farmers residing nearby jungles, the reason? Tigers are ferocious, hunters and a recent study even suggest that this species of feline are the most revengeful creatures in the face of the earth.
Talking of Jay, the topic even brings up confusion caused by the vanishing of its offspring. Where is the poaching count in this whole list?
According to the forest officials, few of them have been seen returning or could be dispersed in a new area. Same case happened with Waghdoh, who went missing from Agarzari and later was spotted in Lohara.
The missing cases could be a follow up in the same way as before. But the poisoning and electrocution are the ones to be worried about.
