Millions of people around the world live with diabetes. The majority has Type 2 diabetes, but an important minority has Type 1 diabetes or juvenile diabetes. Prevalence of Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) is increasing. As per the recent data India has three new cases of T1DM/100,000 children of 0–14 years. T1DM may be autoimmune or idiopathic or post viral in nature which may cause destruction of pancreatic beta cells leading to hyperglycemia, ketoacidosis and coma, if not treated with insulin.
To improve the lives of type 1 diabetes, empowering them and their caretakers with knowledge is of prime importance.
Sunil’s Diabetes Care n’ Research Centre (DCRC) in collaboration with Diabetes Care Foundation of India (DCFI) is organizing an education program for Type – 1 DM and their caretakers – 5thAnnual JDCON (Juvenile Diabetes Conclave) on June 30, 2019 at Hotel Centre Point, Ramdaspeth, Nagpur from 9:00 am to 4 pm. Dr. Sunil Gupta and his team of DCRC and DCFI is consistently educating people with diabetes since 25 years through Hello Diabetes Education program.
The aim of JDCON is to educate people with Type 1 DM and their caretakers about effective DM management andenables to live healthy lives. Education helps to accomplish changes of the human behavior through acquisition of knowledge and understanding of the disease. JDCON will help people to improve their metabolic goals, reduce complications, gain confidence in day to day management of diabetes and improve their quality of life.
Topics like pros and cons of insulin therapy and injection techniques, newer advances in diabetes management, psychosocial aspects, diet and Exercise, Dental and Retina care, etc will be covered by experts like Dr.Sunil Gupta (Director DCRC), Dr. Sudhir Bhave (Psychiatrist), Dr. Ajay Ambade (Retina Surgeon), Dr Priya Kotian (Mumbai), Dr. Mohit Zamad (Oral Surgeon), and M Kavita Gupta and  Parvinder Bamrah, Bharti Wattyani, Anagha Shende(Nutritionist).
The program will be conducted by Dr. Sarita Ugemuge. Various role plays will be enacted to explain Diabetes and its complications& management.
The Program will be inaugurated with the hands of Dr.Dilip Gupta, President Vivekanand Medical Mission, Sr. Clinician &Social Worker and Dr.Kush Jhunjhunwala, IMA President & Paediatrician with the lighting of Samai at 11:00 am onwards. The team of DCRC is working hard for the success of the program. Free Diabetes Identity card of Type 1 Diabetes, will be provided.
