Finally, the wait ends for the Nagpurians as the Nagpur Maha Metro is all set to roll on its elevated tracks from June 28.
The project worth Rs. 8,680-crore Nagpur Metro is the dream project of chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union minister Nitin Gadkari. Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) certified the project after a detailed inspection of the metro stations and the metro rail.
According to the proposed plan, the inauguration will take place on June 28, at 8 am. The first round of Metro will start at Sitabuldi Interchange Station and as well as from Khapri Metro Station at 8.00 am. Metro will take rounds in the city in a gap of an hour’s time. The last round of the metro from Sitabuldi station will be at 7.00 pm and from Khapri station at 8.00 pm.
For the initial stages the schedule for metro has been prepared as follows: Starting from 8.00 am, 9.30 am and 11.00 am while 3 rounds in the afternoon from 3.30 pm, 5.00 pm and 6.30 pm.
The Reach-1 route will be beneficial for the people travelling towards MIHAN SEZ, Hingna as the area has more industries and companies. The Metro Authorities are planning to schedule the metro timings according to the office shifts of the industries.
The Maha Metro is also planning to start shuttle services between Airport Metro Station and Nagpur Airport.
With the help of Nagpur Municipal Corporation, Maha Metro Nagpur has started bus service from the city’s Beltrodi area. Sadar bus service connects airport metro station, airport south metro station, new airport and Khapri metro station and provides employees service to company offices and industrial colonies.
Sadar bus service will run from morning 7.40 till 8.30 pm. Maha Metro has already provided feeder service under Multi-Model Integration (MMI). Sadar bus service has already commenced at Mihan.
