ProHealth Foundation and Miles N Millers Endurance Sports Academy will be organising three sporting events i.e. Tiger Marathon, Cyclothon and Triathlon in the city. Amit Samarth said the events will start with Tiger Marathon on October 20, followed by KRIMS Tiger Cyclothon on December 21 and 22 and Tigerman Triathlon on February 1 and 2.
Tiger Marathon will be organised in four categories i.e. 21 km half marathon for above 18 years age group, Tiger 10 k for above 18 years, Tiger Cubs (5km) for 14 to 18 years and Tiger Relay (21.1 km). Ultra-runner Vaibhav Andhare will be the race director. Dr Samarth further said KRIMS Tiger Cyclothon- Central India’s biggest cycling race will be organised with a view to promote cycling on December 21 and 22.
The long distance races including 160 km, 100 km, and 40 km will be organised on December 21. The start point will be Nagpur University campus square. Above 18 years can participate in the event. The short distance race will be held on December 22. The distance will be 10 km and it will start from Kasturchand Park. The age groups for this event will be 10 to 14 years, 15 to 18 years, 40 to 49 years, 50 to 59 years, 60 to 69 years.
Dr. Samarth further said for the first time in Central India, ProHealth Foundation and Miles N Millers will be organising two-day multi-sports festival Tigerman Triathlon on in February. Dr. Samarth who has done 10 Ironman races will be the director for this event. The event comprises 3 km swimming, 120 km cycling and 25 km run for Tigerman. Olympic distance includes 1.5 km swim, 40 km cycling, and 10 km run, sprint distance include 750 m swim, 20 km cycling and 5 km run (for 14 to 18 years) and kid distance include 200 m swim, 10 km cycling and 2 km run.
The venue for Tigerman and Olympic distance will be Ambazari lake for swimming whereas NIT swimming pool will be the venue for sprint and kid distance events. The cycling will be on Amravati road and running will be conducted in the Civil Lines area. ProHealth Foundation director Ritu Jain, Mukul Tripathi and Vaibhav Andhare we also present at the press conference.
