Union Minister of Road Transport, Highways and the Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Nitin Gadkari has said that transparency in system and corruption free country is our priority. Gadkari was speaking at a seminar on direct tax which was organised by the Tax Bar Association in Nagpur.
In the last tenure of our government to save the trader from taxation in the country, G.S.T. was implemented and it has been attempted that the tax system of the country can be freed from the clutches of corruption and the right to be used in a transparent manner, whose full benefit can be received by the people of the country, informed Gadkari.
The Union Minister said that although the tax system is not the subject of my ministry but being a Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, I am also involved in taxes. He said that presently the growth rate of small enterprises in the country is about 21%, and our goal is to increase this rate to 50%. He said that the dream of a new India will be fulfilled only when our GDP will continue to be at around 8%. Along with this, dealing with agriculture and rural crisis is the biggest challenge for us.
While recalling the former Prime Minister himself Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Gadkari said that during his tenure, the most popular Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana was started, when he was serving as a minister in the Maharashtra government and on the instructions of Vajpayee, he was given the opportunity to work for the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. It was then when Gadkari constructed 60 thousand kilometers roads in rural areas of Maharashtra State.
Gadkari said that this is a time for a change and if we do not change ourselves, we will not be forgiven at the public’s court.
While greeting the people of Nagpur and Tax Bar Association Nagpur, the Union Minister said that I am grateful to all of you that you have elected me as the representative again and sent me to the Lok Sabha. Many officials of the Tax Bar Association were present on the occasion.
