The admission process to the first year of undergraduate courses may get affected in the first week of July following the indefinite strike called by the employees of the Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University.
Varsity staffers have decided to go on indefinite strike from July 2 demanding implementation of the Seventh Pay Commission recommendations. Similar strikes would be staged in other universities across Maharashtra. Barring agriculture universities, employees of all other universities functional in Maharashtra have decided to join the strike.
The employees have sent memorandum to all state universities vice chancellors and state government threatening to go on indefinite strike from July 2. The employees observed one-day token strike on Saturday in support of their demands. The employees of all non-agriculture universities have been on warpath since the long demanding implementation of Seventh Pay Commission recommendations. Maharashtra Rajya Vishwa Vidyalaya Karmachari Mahasangh and Maharashtra State University Officers Forum are leading the agitation.
On Saturday, employees and officers of Nagpur University and Kavi Kaulguru Kalidas Sanskrit University observed day-long token strike, It disrupted the normal functioning of both the universities. The agitating employees gathered before the main administrative building and shouted slogans in support of their demands. In the evening, they submitted a memorandum to vice-chancellor Dr Siddarthvinayak Kane.
