A two-day International conference was conducted on a very relevant topic for today’s current scenario ‘Recent Advancements in Civil Engineering and infrastructural developments (IC-RACEID-2019)’ by the department of civil engineering at G H Raisoni College of Engineering, Nagpur on July 5.
Day one of the conference was inaugurated with a traditional lamp lightening ceremony at the hands of the Chief guest Dr. Balasubramanian Rajasekhar, National University of Singapore in the gracious presence of Shri Sunilji Raisoni, BoG Chairman, Guest of honour Dr. Karol Sikora, Head of Civil Engineering Department, University of Wollongong in Dubai, Er. Navneet Gupta, Vice President, Tandon Consultancy, New Delhi. Dr. Preeti Bajaj, Director, GHRCE, Dr. B.V Khode, General Chair, Dr. P.Y Pawade, General Chair were prominently present during the programme.
“This conference would help students, faculty and researchers working in the area of any engineering to learn about the current situation of various environmental issues and climate change which governs the planning of smart technologies being used all over the worldâ€, Prof. Rajasekhar Balasubramanian, Professor National University of Singapore, addressed the attendees in his speech during an International Conference held at G H Raisoni College of Engineering, Nagpur  organized in association with Springer publication,which is one of the biggest publishers engaged in conducting various conferences across the world.
Dr. P. Y. Pawade, General Chair of the conference delivered the preamble ofIC-RACEID-2019. Dr Preeti Bajaj, Honorary Chair, Director-GHRCE highlighted the salient features of the institute. She stressed on the importance of meeting challenges of urban development and advances solution using IOT, Artificial Intelligence, Machine learning etc. Dr. S.B .Jaju, Dean (R & D) informed the R&D activities of the institute.
Dr. Karol Sikora, Head of Civil Engineering Department at University of Wollongong in Dubai, spoke on the importance of recent trends in suitable construction material which has presented many aspects of sustainable construction material and has scope to flourish globally.
Er. Navneet Gupta, talked about the need of coming up with smart technology for the infrastructure development and satisfaction about the conference and expressed desire to promote the research work beyond the barriers.
The opening of proceeding was conducted at the hands of the dignitaries present on the dais. The conference received an over whelming response with 160 plus papers across the India such as Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Utter-Pradesh, Chandigarh, Uttarkhand etc. also from abroad. The papers were prominently received from IIT, NIT, Governments Colleges, reputed private institutes and environment consultants. Out of total papers received, 80 papers were short listed for oral presentation. Dr. Preeti Bajaj, Director of the Institute has urged all the authors and invitees to take advantage of the plenary talks and the technical sessions being conducted in this two-day international conference.
The Topic of the conference is very relevant for today’s current scenario. The conference aims to bring Re-searchers, academicians and Industry persons together to provide solutions for the existing problems. The conference is focused on smart technologies in smart transportation with urban planning, clean energy and environment, water distribution and waste management, smart materials and structure, disaster management. Technical sessions were conducted for the attendees on the day once of the conference.
Plenary talks were conducted by Prof. Balasubramanian Rajasekhar on “Climate Change and Its Implications on Sustainable Environment†and on “Challenges involved in Design & Constructions of Elevated & Under Ground Structures†by Er. Navneet Gupta.
The first day of the conference also comprises of three technical sessions vide. Water Distribution & Management, Structural Engineering and Construction Engineering & Management chaired by Prof. Rajasekhar Balasubramanian, professor NSU, Dr. L.M. Gupta, Professor VNIT and Dr. Nitin Mishra. General chair Dr P Y Pawade and Dr.B.V.Khode were extremely happy to provide platform for open discussions to find solutions to industry problems and help society at large. Department of Civil engineering, GHRCE worked hard for the successful conduction of the conference.
