The Mumbai-Nagpur-Mumbai flight of Air India would now fly only four times a week. The daily flight was rescheduled to provide aircraft for the Haj tour. The new arrangement would be effective till August 18.
According to Air India it’s 627 Mumbai-Nagpur and 628 Nagpur-Mumbai flight would ply on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. For the remaining three days the flights would remain cancelled for more than a month.
The TLN has earlier reported that all is not really well in the cash strapped Air India which is finding it difficult to manage flights with reduced strength. Several aircraft of the state-run airlines giant have grounded because of the financial crisis leaving it with no other option but to operate on all the routes with lesser number of planes.
According to sources, Air India is using same aircraft on two routes. This however, is affecting the punctuality of the flights. Many of the Air India flights are reportedly running late across the country
Meanwhile, domestic airlines companies may increase their fare of Mumbai-Nagpur-Mumbai flights following the Air India decision. However, there is no official words from other airlines companies but the fare has already soared. Airlines are attributing this rise to dynamic pricing.
