Mayor issues a notice to shoppers who spread garbage waste!
Mayor Nanda Jichkar made a surprise visit to the Gokulpeth market that comes under the Dharampeth zone on Saturday. During the visit she found a huge amount of waste in the market. Since the rainy season has started the waste would only bring in more problems like water log and sewage problems. She expressed her displeasure after witnessing this scene and now the market has asked for a special campaign to clean up.
Mayor Nanda Jichkar expressed her disappointment at the garbage dump in Gokulpeth Bazar area. She gave instructions to the authorities to issue an immediate notice to the shoppers who are dumping their garbage in front of their shops or in the market area. Even after the issuing of notice the garbage dump is not cleared then a strict action will be taken.
Along with Mayor Nanda Jichkar, Additional Commissioner Ram Joshi, Corporator Rupa Roy, Corporator Sanjay Bangale, Sunil Hiranwar, Health Officer (Dakkhakhan) Dr. Sarita Kamdar, Health Officer (Sanitation) Dr. Sunil Kamble, Assistant Commissioner of Dharampeth Zone, Prakash Vardhe, and Zonal Officer, DP Tember was prominently present.
Mayor Nanda reached Gokulpeth market at 4.30 pm in the afternoon. She found that the shopkeepers instead of disposing the shop’s waste in a proper manner they were throwing the garbage on the streets. She warned the shopkeepers that, if there is any rubbish is found in front of the shop then a action will be taken according to the rules.
She has appealed that every shopkeeper should keep a trashcan in front of the shop to keep the place of business clean.
Mayor Nanda Jichkar will take a surprise tour of the markets in every zone in the next few days. Along with market hygiene, plastic use, keeping in mind the monsoon all the other aspects will be reviewed in every zone.
