City shuttler Ritika Thaker won Under-19 doubles title Yonex Sunrise Maharashtra State Junior Badminton Championship organised by Nagpur District Badminton Association (NDBA) at Subhedar Hall, here on Saturday.
Ritika and her Mumbai partner Simran singhi defeated Riya Kunjir-Taniksha Deshpande duo 21-12, 21-9 in straight two games to claim the title.
However in the mixed doubles final she and her partner Nabeel Ahmed lost to Rohan Thool and Simrani Singhi 21-19, 16-21, 17-21. In the under-19 boys singles, top seed Rahul Kanne set up a title clash with Rohan Thool. In the first semi-final, Kanne got the better of city’s Kirtesh Chuadhari 25-23, 21-11. Thool shocked second seed Suyog Lokhande 21-7, 21-10.
In the girls section, Tara Shah and Riya Habbu entered the final. While Tara defeated Hrissha Dubey 21-9, 21-17 Riya downed Riya Kunjir 21-17, 21-8.
The finals will be played on Sunday from 9 a.m. onwards followed by prize distribution function.
