The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) had brought down the intake of direct admission to second year engineering courses for diploma holders from 20% to 10% for the upcoming academic year 2019-20 earlier this year.
Around 500 students from Government Polytechnic college took out a rally against the ruling of AICTE demanding a fair admission process for the students who are currently pursuing polytechnic in their specific stream.
The decision by AICTE has led to rage among students who were about to take direct admission in second year. Agitated on the decision of AICTE students of government polytechnic took out a protest rally from Government Polytechnic to Collectors office and gave a letter to the collector requesting to increase the seats.
