Amravati’s Yash Bahire and Wardha’s Devanshi Salve won the titles in the men and women sections respectively in strokes event in 15th Senior State Woodball Championship organised m by Woodball Association of Maharashtra and Nagpur District Woodball Association at RTM Nagpur University playground.
Bahire scored total 71 points to win the title. Nagpur’s Chetan Mundale finished runners-up with 77 points whereas Mumbai’s Hemant Payer and Sagar Sawant achieved joint third place with 79 points. In the women section, Devanshi triumphed with 87 points. Nagpur’s Vartika Singh (90) emerged runners-up. Shweta Jawanjal and Snehal  Padole finished joint third with 92 points.
In team event, Washim men’s team triumphed with total 308 points. Nagpur city (316) finished second whereas Wardha (318) and Sangli (318) finished joint third.
In the women doubles section, Wardha team comprising Namrata Chandel and Pooja Amte achieved first place with 76 points. Nagpur rural team comprising Neha and Rupali Bawankar finished runners-up with 81 points whereas Nagpur city team including Prachi Thakre and Pooja Gaikwad secured third place with 103 points.
On Saturday, men’s doubles and women team championship matches will be played followed by prize distribution function at 3 pm. MLA Milind Mane, director of Department of Sports and Physical Education Dr Sharad Suryavanshi will grace the occasion, informs organizing committee secretary Ajay Sontakke.
