City’s Mrunmayi Saoji claimed women doubles title in 1st Maharashtra Senior State Selection Tournament that concluded at Nanded on Sunday. However other city shuttlers Rashi Lambe and Sourabh Kerhalkar lost their respective finals.
In the women doubles final, Mrunmayi and her partner Mansi Gadgil got the better of Pooja Devlekar-Riya Arolkar 21-14, 21-12. In the mixed doubles final, unseeded Deep Rambhiya-Pooja Devlekar shocked second seed Akshan Shetty and Rashi Lambe in three games. Rashi and her partner made positive start by winning first game 23-21.
However, then they lost the group and as a result lost nest two games 19-21, 15-21. Similarly, in men’s doubles city Sourabh Kerhalkar and Ajinkya Patharkar lost to second seed Deep Rambhiya Vighesn Devlekar 13-21, 12-21.
