Nagpur district women and Washim men triumphed in the 15th Senior State Woodball Championship that was jointly organised by Woodball Association of Maharashtra and Nagpur District Woodball Association at RTM Nagpur University playground, here on Saturday.
Nagpur district women team secured 355 points to win the title. They were followed by Kolhapur (387) and Wardha (388) for second and third place respectively.
Nagpur city team achieved fourth place. In the men’s doubles, Pune pair Ketan Bhapkar- Vaibhav Jagtap triumphed with 78 points. Rahul Chavan-Sahil Shitap (Mumbai) and Chetan More-Tejas Kalmegh (Amravati) finished second and third respectively.
In the mixed event, Amol Mungale- Nisha Sahu of Nagpur city emerged winner. Vinaydhar Dwivedi-Damini Uikey (Wardha) and Mitkumar Trivedi- Devaanshi Salve secured second and third place respectively.
MLA Dr Milind Mane and district skill development officer Shailesh Bhagat graced the prize distribution function. Ajay Sontakke, Pravin Manwatkar, Sudip Manwatkar, Girish Gadge, Prakash Chopde, Sudhir Kahate, Alka Wanjekar and Suraj Yevtikar were also present on the occasion.
Meanwhile the 15th Senior National Woodball Championship will begin at the same venue on Sunday. Union minister Nitin Gadkari will inaugurate the meet at 5 p.m.
