Jhulelal Institute of Technology arranged Tree Plantation program at its campus. This is an annual event to create awareness amongst the students regarding environment and with a motive to make the campus green. Dr. Rajan Barokar, renowned intensivist and critical care consultant, Founder and Director, Aditya Critical Care and Emergency Centre, Nagpur and Dr. K. G. Rewatkar, Head, Department of Physics, Dr. Ambedkar College, Nagpur, Founder of gogreencity.org were the Guests of Honour. JIT is one of the associates of gogreencity.org along with Society of Technologically Advanced Materials of India (STAMI) and Dr. Ambedkar College, Nagpur.
The organization aims at restoring the green cover of the city which would be instrumental in maintaining the ground water table as well as help in combating climate change. JIT in collaboration with the organisation aims at planting 10,000+ native trees in and around Nagpur. These trees would be geo-tagged and adopted to ensure their growth. The students of various colleges along with JIT would be instrumental in achieving this humongous feat. Shri. Pramod Pampatwar, Director -Technical; Madhavi Wairagade, Director- HR and Admin; Dr. Narendra Bawane, Principal and Dr. Debashis Bhowmick, Vice-principal motivated the students by their participation in the event.
In all more than 50 saplings were planted. These saplings would be nurtured by the students to ensure growth. Prof. Biswajit Saha, Physical Education Department was the faculty coordinator of the program. Mahesh Sadhwani, Chairman, JIT; Virendra Kukreja, Secretary, JIT; Jayprakash Sahajramani, Treasurer, JIT, and other management members congratulated the staff members for the success of the event.
