Jai Sai Welfare Foundation is organising Open Below 1600 FIDE Rating Chess Tournament from July 26 to 28 at Naivedyam Northstar Chindwara Road, Koradi Naka. The tournament is recognised by World Chess Federation, All India Chess Federation (AICF), All Marathi Chess Association (AMCA) and Nagpur District Chess Association (NDCA).
Addressing media person secretary of the foundation Sushant Jumle said around 350 players from all over India are participating in the tournament and so far 170 players have confirmed their participation. Jumble said total prize money for the tournament is Rs 5,90,000. Total 57 cash prizes and 124 trophies will be distributed. The winner will get Rs 51,000 whereas the runners-up will be awarded Rs 41, 000. The third prize will be Rs 31,000. Apart from it there will be category prizes, unrated player prizes, best veteran, best female and best Nagpur player prizes. Swapnil Bansod will be the chief arbiter of the tournament and he will be assisted by Deepak Chavan.
The players from Ghana, Netherland, and Doha are also participating in the tournament. AICF vice-president Manoj Itkelwar, NDCA president Dilip Kamdar, and Secretary KK Barat have also extended their co-operation for the smooth conduction of the tournament.
