Air India has started low fare flights to attract passengers. The State-run airline is sending additional flights from Delhi and Mumbai to Nagpur embarkation point of Haj pilgrimage. Till last year these flights used to return empty. However, this year AI has decided to run these flights as regular carrier so as not to fly these planes without fliers and also make it affordable for them.
Recently, the Director-General of Civil Aviation also gave nod for the additional flights. It may be noted that the cost of travelling from Delhi and Mumbai in these flights is almost equivalent to that of the tickets of Rajdhani Express, first class.
Passenger will have to shell out only Rs 2022 from their pockets to travel from Delhi to Nagpur in these flights, whereas the tickets of Mumbai-Nagpur flight will be ₹2598. It is pertinent to note that there are 8 flights from Mumbai to Nagpur and one from Delhi to Nagpur with an intake capacity of 180.
The step has been taken by authorities to make the flights affordable for fliers. In September too, these flights will be available at affordable rates for the people. On September 2, nearly 13 such flights are going to fly from Nagpur to Mumbai and Delhi.
