City athletes Rutuja Shende and Saurav Tiwari excelled in their respective categories in District Junior Athletics Championship organised by  Nagpur District Athletics Association at RTM Nagpur University playground here on Wednesday.
Rutuja lived up to her reputation and finished on top in Under-20 girls’ 5000m race clocking 17:41.02 seconds. She was followed by Gita Chachrekar ( 18:42.11) for second place whereas Pranali Burade (21:49.16 seconds) finished third.
Saurav Tiwar won 3000m race of the Under-20 boys’ category. Sourav finished the race in 10:16.61 seconds. Akshay Bhoyar claimed second position with a timing of 10:23.83 seconds while Abhishek Dhomne (11:13.48 seconds) finished third.
