Time is short to finish important projects, Mayor writes to Government to extend tenure for six monthsÂ
The present Mayor of Nagpur Municipal Corporation, Nanda Jichkar has sent a letter to the state government seeking an extension of her tenure for six months. In the letter, Jhichkar argued that she had some major projects to finish and mayor-council meet would also be held in Nagpur, so her tenure should be extended.
Mayor has reportedly written the letter about one and a half months ago. Since it came into the notice the ruling party corporators and leaders, have been discussing the matter. However, there is no confirmation from the government to extend the tenure yet.
It has been learned that BJP after winning the NMC election had decided that new mayor would be selected after one year and three months. Where mayor Nanda Jichkar’s tenure has reached to an end, discussions have begun for next candidate.
As per sources, some group leaders in BJP are trying their best to replace her Jhichkar. But due to BJP high command, Jichkar was able to finish her tenure. Now, when two months remaining of her tenure, the discussion begins on new incumbent for the post.
