In a major relief to the parents seeking admission for their wards in Std I, the education department has relaxed the minimum age limit. The education department has issued a circular in this regard in which headmasters of all the affiliated schools have been informed about reduction in age limit. The  minimum age for admission to Std I is six years. At times headmasters had to face situation when a student was just short of reaching this age limit. Taking this issue seriously the education department has asked the headmasters to take the decision in accordance with the situation. They can give relaxation by five days, which means if a student’s age is 5 years 11 months and 15 days he/she can be given admission to Std I.
Earlier the education department has fixed the minimum age at 6 years or would be six years of age till September 30, 2019. Following this rule many students could not get admission in Std I and had to reappear in senior kindergarten. A large number of parents have lodged complaint with the education department and demanded relaxation in minimum age limit.
