Member of Samasta Brahman Samaj Maharashtra (SBSM), an affiliate of Parshuram Seva Sangh Maharashtra and an umbrella body of several Brahmin organisations on Saturday staged ‘Ghantanaad’ agitation at Samvidhan Square demanding separate Bhagwan Parshuram Financial Development Board for Brahmin community in the state.
During the agitation, members started raising slogans like ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai,’ ‘Jai Parshuram’,‘Hum Sab Ek Hai’ etc Members of different associations of Brahmin communities including men, women, priests, youths participated in the agitation.
Other demand of the Sangh include free education from KG to PG; honorarium for the priests in temple (like Maulanas in mosques), a law to stop the defamation of Brahmins in the country, Bharat Ratna Award to Swatantryaveer Savarkar, installation of statues of Dadoji Konddev, Ram Ganesh Gadkari; hostels for Brahmin community students in each district, construction of memorial of Balaji Vishwanath Peshwe at Shrivardhan, construction of memorial of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Arabian sea; construction of war memorial of 44 battles of Shrimant Bajirao Peshwe in Shaniwar Wada etc.
Addressing the gathering Vishwajeet Deshpande, Convenor of Samasta Brahman Sangh said, “Maharashtra Chief Minister, DevendraFadnavis had deceived the entire Brahmins in Maharashtra state. The organisation had launched an agitation in the month of January in Mumbai for 15 demands. At that time, the protest was called off after CM as he assured them to consider their demands and also fulfill some of the ‘legitimate’ demands at the earliest.
However, these demands are still pending and no process has been initiated from the Government so far. Therefore, we had left no alternative than to stage Ghantanaad agitation in Nagpur.â€
Jitendra Sharma conducted the proceedings and K Jagadeesan proposed a vote of thanks. Trilokinath Sidhra, Archana Deshmukh, Sanjay Dabli, Ramnarayan Mishra, Manish Trivedi, Ajay Dabir, Narendra Jog, Nandu Ghare, Abhay Naik, Sanjay Pendse, Mahendra Sharma, Ashok Deo, Pratik Trivedi, Ashish Verma, Manoj Kumar Singh, Vikram Sharma, Anil Hastak, Dr Harshavardhan Gokhale, Rajan Bhoot, Rajani Sharma, Apoorva Naik, Shrikant Joshi, Anil Mule, Uday Maha, Anand Paradkar, Govind Sharma and many others attended the agitation.
