In a major relief to colleges, the Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) has extended the date of admission to the first year in the affiliated colleges by one month. Now colleges can take admissions till September 4. Earlier the last date for admission was August 4.
On Thursday, the officiating Registrar of the university Dr. Neeraj Khati issued a notification in this regard. According to the information received, many seats of the under-graduate courses are still vacant in several colleges.
The results of the State board’s supplementary examination are yet to be announced too. Also, some colleges have submitted a proposal to increase the additional seats. In view of these factors, the colleges had urged vice-chancellor Dr SP Kane to extend the last date of admission. Taking serious note of the issue, the university has decided to extend the final date of admission by a month.
It is worth mentioning that the University had last week sought proposals from the colleges who wanted to increase the seats by 20 percent. Sources said that 22 colleges have sent the proposal to increase seats.
The results of the Std XII supplementary examination of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary Andy Higher Secondary Education may be declared around August 15. This time a large number of students have appeared in the supplementary exams. Students will be given admission in under-graduate courses only after they clear the supplementary exams. Taking all these factors into consideration the Nagpur University has extended the last date of admission.
