In a bid to provide all better facilities at the Metro stations and metro rail, the Maha Metro has decided to install charging points for e-vehicles at all the Metro Stations in the city.
A contract has been signed between officials of Maha Metro and Energy Efficiency Service Limited (EESL), an undertaking of Union Power Ministry.
The highlight of the charging point is that it will work on the huge quantity of solar power generated from the station rooftops. The Maha Metro since its construction process paid special attention to the use of sun rays to generate electricity.
At present four of the metro stations’ rooftops are affixed with 965 solar panels and the plan is to tap 65 percent of generated power for self-consumption for station lighting and other purposes.
Metro officials including Sunil Mathur, Director, Rolling Stock, Mahesh Kumar, Director, Projects, and S Sivanathan, Director, Finance, were present on the occasion.
